I use StatCounter hit counters on my websites and they're easy to customize, install, and edit. Best thing is they're free! Plus you get access to all sorts of cool stats about your site such as which browsers your visitors are using; which pages they favor; how long they stay each time they visit your site; which IP they visit from; which country they visit from; etc. Neat-o!
